ST. CROIX — A female tourist from Denmark vacationing on this island was found floating in the ocean at Cotton Valley beach, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced today.
While details remain scant (an autopsy will be performed tonight), Mr. Dratte said the visitor, whose identity police are withholding until next of kin notification, was vacationing with her Danish friends in the Cotton Valley area. Police were not certain whether the victim was here for the Transfer Centennial commemoration.
Mr. Dratte said the landlord of the property observed the female victim, age 26, floating in what was said to be 8 feet of water, brought her to the shore and performed CPR on her for roughly 20 minutes. She was then transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m.
According to Mr. Dratte, The Fire Service, V.I.P.D., and emergency medical technicians responded.
