ST. CROIX — Police on Saturday said a man who had been stabbed in the neck in the area of Old Fredensborg in Christiansted on Friday, was pronounced dead the same day after being transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

According to Mr. Dratte, the 911 emergency call center, upon receiving notification of the incident, dispatched police to the area, where officers discovered the injured man on the ground. The victim, identified by family as Jose Saez Rosario, 55, was a resident of Old Fredensborg.

According to police, preliminary information revealed that both men were feuding over a broken windshield, which led first to a verbal altercation followed by the deadly stabbing. One man was holding a beer bottle while the other was holding a knife, according to police. The man with the knife, identified as 46-year-old Edwardo D. Garcia Jr., above, stabbed Mr. Rosario in the neck and fled the area — leaving the victim bleeding to death on the ground.

Mr. Garcia was charged with second-degree murder and remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
