The final Half Iron Man racing event takes place on Sunday, bringing to an end a beloved and long-running race on the big island, that many had come to regard as a mainstay.
Below, the V.I.P.D. road closure notice for the final race, which goes into effect from 3:00 a.m. Sunday, to 3:00 p.m. the same day.
Parking Restrictions
- Parking is prohibited along the entire Triathlon route include the staging area at Christiansted Wharf.
- Parking is prohibited on Church Street, Christiansted between King and Company Streets.
- Vehicles parking along the triathlon route will be cited and towed at the owner’s expense.
Vehicular Movement Restrictions
- Traffic on east End Road (RT. 82) will be allowed to travel in an easterly direction from South Shore Road (Rt.60) to the entrance of Cramer’s Park Road.
- Traffic on South Shore Road (Rt.60) from Sally Fancy to Junie’s Bar & Restaurant will be permitted to travel in a westerly direction.
- All traffic will be required to pull to the side of the road and stop to allow the tri-athletes to pass safely.
- Vehicular traffic and pedestrians attempting to cross the Triathlon route will be allowed to do so in a safe manner when feasible, providing the crossing does not interfere with or endanger the tri-athletes.
- Barricades will be utilized at certain intersections; anyone found removing such barricades for vehicular traffic will be cited accordingly.
- Motorists are urged to use alternate routes as possible, and as directed by VIPD officers during the event.
