ST. CROIX — A man told police that he was shot after 1:00 a.m on Saturday while on the dance floor of popular local nightclub Chris Hideaway, seen above, but the V.I.P.D. as of today was still investigating the matter, as no witness has been able to corroborate the victim’s version of the incident, Police Commissioner Delroy Richards told The Consortium early Sunday.
After the incident occurred, the victim went to the V.I.P.D.’s Marshall Command located in Estate La Reine, and told police that he was shot in the right thigh while dancing in the club, but had no idea who shot him, according to the commissioner.
Mr. Richards said V.I.P.D. officers and detectives were on the scene interviewing a host of witnesses. He said he was not certain whether officers had recovered shell casings, which he said would help the case. Witnesses interviewed, according to the commissioner, said they did not hear the sound of gunshots in the club.
“You got to understand that we’re going completely on the report that we received from the victim,” Mr. Richards said. “If we get any information that points the complaint in a different direction, then we will issue an update. But for now that’s what we got: He said he got shot in the club, while on the dance floor.”
The victim was treated at the Juan F. Luis Hospital for his wound and released, Mr. Richards said.
