ST. THOMAS — V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced the following incidents which took place in St. Thomas between January 13-15.
On Saturday, January 13, at about 10:36 p.m., a robbery victim called 911 and reported that a male attempted to rob him and his girlfriend.
The victim stated that he and his girlfriend were sitting in the area of Smith Bay in the bus stop, when a male walked up to them and pointed a gun demanding their money and cellphone.
The victim added that he told the suspect they did not have any money nor would they give up their phones. A scuffle then ensued, at which point a gunshot was released that grazed the male victim in his head.
The victim further stated that he wrestled the gun away from the suspect and threw it over a fence in the area.
The victim said he continued to strike the suspect several times to his face with his closed fist, until two other males intervened. Following the fight, everyone fled in unknown directions.
The male victim declined medical treatment and his girlfriend did not report any injuries.
On Sunday, January 14 at about 8:45 a.m., members of the Criminal Investigation Task Force located a firearm where the victim said he threw it the night before.
On Saturday, January 14, at approximately 8:59 p.m., a female individual reported that she was at her apartment at the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community, when her electricity was switched off from the outside electric panel box.
The victim stated that she opened her front door to check the electric box and saw a black male individual who pointed a handgun at her. The victim also indicated that the male walked towards her, which prompted her to quickly close her door.

The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
On Sunday, January 14, at approximately 7:37 p.m., a female minor stated that an adult female placed her fingers around her neck and choked her.
The minor victim stated that the adult female’s daughter was about to engage in physical altercation with her when she was choked.
The victim also stated that her neck was injured, and she was treated at the Schneider Medical Center and released.
On Monday, January 15, an 18-year-old female victim reported that a 70-year-old male sexually assaulted her various times in 2017, when she was the age of 17.
This matter is currently under investigation, according to police.
