The Department of Public Works announced on Friday that the final pass for debris pickup will begin on Monday. Contractors have worked over the last four months removing debris from neighborhoods and roadways, but now, this phase of the restoration process is coming to an end, Public Works said.
The department said residents still in possession of hurricane-related debris should separate and place it along the side of the roadway by Monday. Residents are asked to be mindful not to block any roadway with their debris. While this final pass is expected to take about two weeks to completely cover all islands, it is recommended that all adhere to the January 22 deadline, to ensure your debris is removed.
Public Works Commissioner Nominee Nelson Petty, Jr. applauded the work of all local and off-island contractors for their work during the debris removal process. “Your teamwork was commendable and we are grateful for your service to the territory,” he said.
