ST. CROIX — A woman died following a vehicular accident on the Container Port Road this afternoon, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

According to Mr. Dratte, who cited a police report, at about 2:25 p.m. the 911 emergency call center reported a single-car collision on the aforementioned road just off the Melvin Evan’s Highway, involving a Ford Ranger pickup truck.

V.I.P.D. Traffic Division officers responded to the incident and conducted a preliminary investigation. According to police, a female was driving the Ford Ranger behind a fuel truck. As the truck slowed down to make a turn, a screeching noise was heard, then the Ford Ranger crashed into a WAPA utility pole.
