Watch: Mapp’s Wednesday Hurricane Recovery Press Conference

News / Videos / Virgin Islands / February 7, 2018

ST. CROIX — Governor Kenneth Mapp held his second hurricane recovery press conference this year at Government House here, where he presented radio stations with checks for their work during the hurricane season. Mr. Mapp refused to provide a figure, but said all radio station owners would receive some money for their efforts through a disaster relief fund being administered by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands.

The governor elaborated on the Emergency Home Repairs V.I. Project he announced last week, and responded to a number of questions from the media, including two from The Consortium — the first concerning the community disaster loan issues faced by the government, and payment for waste haulers. We’ll have the stories up in the morning. Meanwhile, you can watch the video below. Start a the 7-minute mark. (Above, Jonathan Cohen, owner of the WJKC network of radio stations, speaks after receiving a check from the governor this evening.)
