The St. Croix Chamber of Commerce will convene its members and the general public at its annual breakfast meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 7:30 a.m. at The Palms at Pelican Cove, the chamber announced Saturday.
According to Chairperson Kimberly McCollum, the executive board expects the meeting to be productive and instructive. “This past year came with many challenges for St. Croix’s small businesses before and after the hurricanes, but we remain optimistic for the future and anxious to hear from our members about the issues that most affect their bottom lines,” said Ms. McCollum.
Because the V.I. Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs (DLCA) has been an integral part of the disaster recovery process for businesses and consumers, this year’s featured speaker will be DLCA’s District Counsel, Atty. Ann Cecile O’Neill, according to the chamber. Governor Kenneth Mapp was the keynote speaker for two of the three years he’s been in office.
The agenda also includes the annual report by outgoing Chairperson McCollum, the seating of new executive officers, a question and answer session, and unique opportunities for networking and business card exchange, according to the release.
The St. Croix Chamber of Commerce officially commenced the representation of industrial, agricultural, and commercial interests on St. Croix in 1924 and currently has 150 business and individual members. Advocacy on behalf of the business community is a cornerstone of the chamber’s mission, Ms. McCollum said.
The organization’s priority action areas are economic development, energy, territorial budget and taxation, tourism, public safety, infrastructure, education, workforce development, environment, healthcare, and employment law reform.
The annual meeting is open to the public. Tickets are $25 for members in good standing as of January 31, and $35 for non-members. Attendees are urged to take advantage of early registration for the meeting at www.stxchamber.org/event-st-croix-chamber-annual meeting to guarantee seating for breakfast.
Membership renewal or applications to join the Chamber can be completed at www. stchamber.org or with payment by check at the door. For more information contact the Chamber at 340.718.1435 or [email protected]
