Young Democrats To Host Outreach Event Tuesday

News / Virgin Islands / February 26, 2018

Young Democrats of St. Croix, a nationally chartered group within the Democratic party in the territory, will host an outreach event on Tuesday aimed at engaging young people and encouraging them to get involved in the political process, a release the group issued Sunday makes known.

Troy Williams, the group’s president, has told The Consortium of the Young Democrats’ plans preceding this year’s elections, which he said involves hosting multiple events, to include voter drives. Mr. Williams hopes the group’s efforts will pressure candidates to focus on issues facing young people as part of their platforms.

Keynoting the event, which is being held at the Lampost Lounge and Bar in Castle Coakley near Thomas Bakery at 6:30 p.m., will be Senator Janelle Sarauw. Also speaking will be Rashidi Clenance, founder of Sunstroke Promotions. There will also be live entertainment by Supa Traks International, and Bugzbugs, a local singer.

The Young Democrats meeting sets the stage for multiple such events as the election season builds.
