ST. CROIX — Detectives from the V.I.P.D.’s Economic Crime Unit, along with agents from the Virgin Islands Department of Justice and several members of the United States Marshals, were present at Mount Pellier, Frederiksted on Tuesday morning conducting a compliance check on a registered sex offender, when two large potted plants that appeared to be marijuana were discovered at the residence, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Wednesday.
The individual, Wade Clarke, gave consent for officers to enter his residence, where in plain view police saw a firearm, ammunition, over six hundred potted marijuana plants, and a variety of clear plastic bags weighing over eight hundred grams, according to Mr. Dratte.
On Tuesday at approximately 10:41 a.m., Mr. Clark, 28, was placed in custody and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession or sale of ammunition, escape from jail or custody of an officer, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, according to Mr. Dratte.
Unable to make bail of $25,000, Mr. Clark was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing in court.
