U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers To Complete Debris Pickup On St. John And St. Thomas March 15

ST. THOMAS — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will complete collection of vegetative and construction/demolition debris from roadside rights-of-way in St. John and St. Thomas on March 15, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Monday.

USACE, under assignment by the FEMA, will oversee reduction and transport of all vegetative debris for disposal. At the request of the territorial government, vegetative debris will be transported to a disposal location either in or outside the continental United States, FEMA said. The vegetation will be reduced to a size and disposition required by the receiving facility.

On St. Croix, the Virgin Islands Department of Public Works is managing rights-of-way debris pickup and the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority is responsible for temporary debris sites and disposal. March 7 was the last day for pickup.
