St. Croix Comes Alive With Multiple Events This Weekend

Culture / Entertainment / News / Videos / Virgin Islands / March 16, 2018

This weekend on St. Croix will be one overloaded with fun activities, with the massive St. Patrick’s Day Parade being the main event, but smaller events such as the annual RC Boat Race Championship — where small boats, controlled by owners through wireless devices, are launched on a body of water  and race for several laps — fighting for your attendance.

There are also political events as well, including the Petrus/Sanes affair at the La Reine Chicken Shack that boasts two of the territory’s well-known bands, Spectrum Band out of St. Thomas and Fusion Band from St. Croix. This event happens on this evening.

The RC Boat Race Championship starts today and runs through Monday, and takes place at the clandestinely placed Bethlehem Park, located on the old Sugar Mill Plantation just east of the National Guard Armory. It’s an all-day affair and fun for family to watch, as remote controlled boats zips across the pond vying for number 1. Kids will love it.

Then, of course, there’s the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Christiansted. The annual affair has grown into a massive festival that sees thousands descending on the town, most attired in green tops, partying, drinking, and having a good ole time.

The Consortium is expected to attend all the aforementioned activities, so if you’re not able to, you’ll at least enjoy vicariously through us. (We’ll post pictures and videos, and you may also catch some live video coverage action on our Facebook platform.)
