A young man believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25 was found dead on Thursday afternoon in Estate Hogensborg in Frederiksted, with multiple gunshot wounds about his body, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Thursday.

The body was discovered by a resident passing in the area at about 12:42 p.m. today, according to police. Mr. Dratte said gunshots were heard in the area overnight, however the victim was only discovered this afternoon.

A V.I.P.D. source with intimate knowledge of the matter told The Consortium that the victim was found gagged and tied, and it appeared that he was shot and dragged out of a vehicle. Mr. Dratte was asked about the manner in which the victim died, but he refrained from commenting and instead reiterated that the victim was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds about his body.

Police are seeking the community’s assistance in locating the victim, as they have not been able to identify the body, Mr. Dratte said. The victim is said to be a black male between 18 and 25 years old, with medium brown, dark skin and a low fade haircut. He is between 5’9 and 6’0 tall and weighs about 160, according to police. The victim had a very low facial hair beard and mustache when his body was discovered, according to Mr. Dratte. He was wearing a black t-shirt with “I love Cannabis” written in a starburst logo, with a blue jeans, police say.
