Quick Note: Senate Approves All Recent Mapp Nominees

The 32nd Legislature during its first session of 2018, held on Wednesday, approved all of Governor Kenneth Mapp’s recent nominees. Above, Julio Rhymer, Jr., nominated by Mr. Mapp to lead the Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Rhymer had previously served as the Virgin Islands Power and Power Authority’s executive director.

The approved nominees are:

  • Nelson Petty, Jr.– Commissioner, Dept. of Public Works
  • Elizabeth Armstrong (Reappointment)– Member, WAPA Authority Board (STX)
  • Stacy Bourne– Member, VI Casino Control Commission (STT/STJ)
  • Hubert Turnbull– Member, WAPA Authority Board (STT/STJ)
  • Julio Rhymer, Sr.– Director, Office of Management & Budget (OMB)
  • John A. Quelch– Member, University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees (STX)
  • Dina Perry-Malone– Member, VI Housing Authority Board of Commissioners (STT/STJ)

In a release issued Thursday, Mr. Mapp congratulated the nominees. He also applauded lawmakers. “I appreciate the Legislature’s action on these important nominations so that those appointed can move forward with confidence,” he said. “The Department of Public Works, the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Board and the Office of Management and Budget, in particular, have a great deal of responsibility given our ongoing recovery process. I wish those confirmed much success as they carry out their duties on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands.”
