The Virgin Islands Taxi Cab Commission has announced its first interactive website for visitors, residents, and taxi cab operators. The website, which is supposed to be accessed at www.tcc.vi.gov, is said to be a user-friendly information hub designed to provide site visitors with adequate information in an accessible format. However, the URL provided could not be accessed, as it constantly produces this error.
The website is said to include taxi stand locations, maps, current tariffs between designated travel points, and educational and etiquette tips for operators. It is also said to provide required forms and applications, public announcements, and an opportunity for site visitors to leave comments and feedback.
The Taxi Cab Commission said in its release that the website is one of many progressive actions needed to move the industry forward by offering 21st century transportation service for visitors and the local community.
“We are extremely pleased to finally launch,” said Executive Director Levron Sarauw Sr. “When the board made the decision to begin working on this site, providing a collective source of information was key to its design.”
Vice Chairman Horace Graham Jr. said that the website represents the commission’s forward-thinking mindset.
“With this project, we are realizing the vision of creating a robust system that is responsive to the needs of all stakeholders within the taxi transportation matrix. We want everyone to use this website and to provide feedback as to how we can serve you better,” he said.
The Virgin Islands Taxi Cab Commission oversees the operation of the automobile-for-hire industry in the territory, according to the release. This includes the issuance of automobile-for-hire business licenses and enforcement of the laws, rules and regulations that govern the industry. The commission said its mission is to ensure the delivery of safe, courteous, and consistent taxi transportation services for visitors and residents
