ST. CROIX — A man who went missing several days ago was found dead in his Mutual Homes apartment on Thursday morning, after a concerned resident filed a report at the V.I.P.D.’s Francis Command Police Station relative to a missing person, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Thursday.
Following the report, officers made a welfare check at the victim’s residence located in the Mutual Homes Apartments in Grove Place, where officers discovered an unresponsive black male lying on the apartment’s living room floor, according to the release. Mr. Dratte said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Emergency medical technicians and medical attendants examined the victim for vital signs of life but found none.
The victim was identified by next of kin as 29-year-old Akuojo J. Jackman, according to Mr. Dratte.
According to police, the victim’s vehicle, a blue Mazda 3, was missing from the victim’s parking lot. Mr. Dratte said the case remains under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B.).
