ST. CROIX — The Sam’s Gas Station in Estate Glynn was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday night, with the three suspects — who police say were all wearing masks — escaping the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Friday.
According to Mr. Dratte, 911 received a call at about 10:22 p.m. on Thursday reporting an armed robbery at the gas station. V.I.P.D. detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B.) descended on the location in response to the report. Upon their arrival, the detectives learned that three men, with their faces covered, entered the gas station’s convenience store and pointed what appeared to be a rifle and a shotgun at an employee.
The men then jumped behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. They then exited the establishment in a black Jeep Wrangler, according to the V.I.P.D. release.
Mr. Dratte said the robbery remains under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this incident, or any other crime you know of in the territory, to call C.I.B. at 340-778-2211 on St. Croix, or 340-774-2211, on St. Thomas. You may also contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
