Partially Decomposed Body Found On Island Near Hull Bay

ST. THOMAS — The V.I.P.D. said on Sunday that a partially decomposed body was discovered on a small island near Hull Bay Beach in St. Thomas Sunday afternoon.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, at 3:30 p.m. yesterday, a resident of St. Thomas reported the discovery of the body. Units from the Richard N. Callwood Command, the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to the island, called Inner Brass Island, via boat, according to the release.

The partially decomposed body was retrieved and transported to the morgue at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

According to police, the identity, gender and cause of death of the person are undetermined at this time, pending an autopsy. The case is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.
