ST. CROIX — A man was shot pointblank in a Frederiksted bar on Saturday night, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Dratte said at approximately 10:45 p.m. last night, a resident called 911 to report discharging of shots and a subsequent victim, who was lying on the floor unresponsive in the EL Rincon Bar on Queen Street in Frederiksted.
Officers along with emergency medical technicians responded to the scene and discovered the unresponsive black male individual lying on the floor of the bar, Mr. Dratte said. Medical personnel were unable to resuscitate the victim — whose identity police is withholding until next of kin notification — and he was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue.
According to Mr. Dratte, the victim was inside the establishment when the suspect came in and discharged multiple shots, striking the victim to the upper body. The suspect then fled the area by foot and as of Sunday afternoon had not been apprehended.
