Man Dies At Hospital After Being Shot In Head

ST. CROIX — A man died at the Juan F. Luis Hospital on Tuesday night after being shot multiple times, including in the head, behind the Consumer Gas Station in Estate Plessen, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed today.

Mr. Dratte said a distress call was placed to the 911 emergency call center at 7:49 p.m. Officers were immediately dispatched, and upon their arrival to the scene, they discovered a black male individual with multiple gunshot wounds about his body, lying in the rear area of the service station on the ground.

The victim was hurried to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and was immediately taken into surgery. However, the victim, identified as 29-year-old Raymond Richards by next of kin, did not survive.

Mr. Dratte said the case was under investigation by the V.I.P.D’s Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police are asking anyone with information about this homicide to call 340-778-2211. You may also contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
