Attorney Carol Thomas-Jacobs has been named acting attorney general by the Bryan administration, a D.O.J. source with firsthand knowledge of the appointment has confirmed to The Consortium. Mrs. Thomas-Jacobs replaced Attorney Joseph Ponteen, who was appointed as acting A.G. following the resignation of then-Attorney General Claude Walker.
Mrs. Thomas-Jacobs was appointed on Thursday, January 10, but it was not announced by the Bryan administration.
Mr. Bryan will announce members of his cabinet at a press conference today at the Arthur Abel Complex (Old Danish School) in Frederiksted at 3:00 p.m. Apparently, the administration is expecting the press conference to last about 30 minutes, as it gives an end time of 3:30 p.m. A previous release issued by the administration announcing senior staff did not include the 30-minute end time.
The Consortium has already revealed a number of Mr. Bryan’s cabinet members and senior staff, including Kirk Callwood, who is expected to be named today as the Finance commissioner, and Joseph Boschulte, who the publication has learned was given the commissioner position at the Department of Tourism. David Bornn was revealed to be the administration’s chief legal counsel, Karl Knight as chief of staff, former Senator Sammuel Sanes as St. Croix administrator, among others.
The Consortium will be carrying the press conference live on its website and Facebook platform.
