Keithroy Chittick of St. Thomas was viciously attacked with a machete by ex-girlfriend, Anika Daniel on Friday morning, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.
At 6:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a male victim being treated at the Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center for large lacerations sustained in an altercation.
According to Chittick, while on his way to work in the vicinity of the Waterfront area of Banco Popular, Daniel attacked him with a machete. He said Daniel was accompanied by an unknown man who punched him in the face, and as he fell to the ground, Daniel began attacking him with the machete.
Chittick fled his attackers, running from Raadet’s Gade to Riise Alley; however, he told police that Daniel and the male assailant pursued him in a white jeep. Daniel jumped out of the jeep to continue her assault on Chittick, but two bystanders intervened and phoned ambulance for the injured victim.
According to the attending physician, Chittick sustained a deep laceration to his left forearm and left hand.
Officers with the Domestic Violence Unit are continuing their investigation into the matter.
