Thirty-one year old Tashimo Scatliffe of Paul M. Pearson Gardens in St. Thomas was arrested and charged with 2nd degree assault-domestic violence in connection with an incident that occurred on Dec. 29, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.
The victim, whose name was withheld by police, said Scatliffe, the father of her infant son, came to her residence and met a male acquaintance of hers sitting on the porch. The two men had an exchange of words, at which point the victim’s friend left the residence. Police say a verbal altercation then ensued between Scatliffe and the victim, and Scatliffe placed his hands on the victim’s throat and began to choke her.
Scatliffe was placed under arrest and given the 2nd degree-domestic violence charge without bail under the Domestic Violence Law. He was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
In another incident on St. Thomas, a man was injured in a Kronprindsens Gade shooting early Friday morning.
At around 3:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Kronprindsens Gade in the area of Club 75 with 911 reports of a shooting. The victim, Keith Johnson, was found sitting in a puddle of blood and said he was shot by an unknown black male.
According to the victim’s statement, he had left the club and was making his way downstairs, at which time he may have provoked the unknown shooter. After the man pulled out a gun, the victim said he began to run, heard a shot, and minutes later felt a burning sensation on his right side.
A witness on the scene called police and ambulance, which transported the victim to the Roy Schneider Regional Hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to the right hip.
