ST. THOMAS — Two victims were injured here over the weekend in separate machete attacks, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced on Monday.
According to Jackson, the first incident occurred at Coki Point Beach last Sunday at about 2:40 p.m., where a game of beach soccer was being played. According to the victim, the soccer ball was kicked in his direction, and as he raised his foot to kick the ball, a suspect appeared at the back of him and slashed his foot with a machete, causing a laceration that required medical attention.
Elsewhere, at Lake’s Chicken Fry in Smith Bay on the same day at about 3:30 p.m., a man said he was assaulted by an individual with a machete, which caused a laceration to his hand requiring medical attention.
According to Jackson, both incidents are currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
