ST. THOMAS — 52-year-old Andres Carmona Ortiz of Estate Bovoni was arrested and charged with second degree rape for admitting to raping a 13-year-old boy, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced on Friday.

According to Jackson, detectives were dispatched to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center on Thursday, August 27, in response to 13-year-old boy who placed under observation for a sexual assault incident. The minor reported to his parents that he had sexual intercourse with an adult male that same day in the Estate Bovoni area at roughly 6:30 p.m.

The boy provided the detectives with the name and description of the suspect, who was subsequently located and openly admitted to police that he had performed oral sex on the minor, and allowed the minor to do the same to him.

Unable to make bail of $175,000, Ortiz was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
