Crime / Virgin Islands / December 5, 2017

The V.I.P.D. on Monday reported two alleged rape incidents that affected both male and female victims in the St. Thomas-St.John and St. Croix districts, according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

Mr. Dratte said officers were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Sunday (no time was given) in reference to a rape incident. Upon their arrival, contact was made with a male victim, who told the officers that he was sexually assaulted by another male in the area of Sorgenfri in St. Thomas.

According to Mr. Dratte, the victim was examined by medical attendants and a rape kit was administered. The case is under investigation; the V.I.P.D. did not announce an arrest in this matter.

Separately, a St. Croix woman reported to the police at approximately 7:32 a.m. on Sunday, that a male acquaintance had sexually assaulted her the day before by pinning her down on a bed and proceeding to sexually assault her, which included fondling.

The suspect, Augustus Actie, 47, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape along with additional charges of unlawful sexual contact, according to Mr. Dratte.

No bail was set as per the territory’s domestic violence ordinance, therefore Mr. Actie was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
