St. Thomas Man Sustains Multiple Gunshot Wounds During Drive-By Shooting

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / November 8, 2016

ST. THOMAS — A drive-by shooting here on Monday afternoon left its sole victim with multiple gunshot wounds and unresponsive, Police Commissioner Delroy Richards has confirmed to The Consortium. The incident occurred at about 4:53 p.m.

Mr. Richards said a 23-year-old black male had driven his car into the parking area near Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy in Subbase, when a second vehicle drove up near that of the 23-year-old and fired multiple shots, striking the victim three times in the upper body. The suspect then sped out of the area.

The victim was transported via ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital for treatment. Police had visited the medical facility in an attempt to gather information from the victim, but he was unresponsive and was said to be undergoing surgery, according to V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman, in a press release issued late Monday.

The incident, according to Mr. Richards, is currently under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of suspects to contact the V.I.P.D. at (340) 774-2211, or Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 714-9801. You can also contact 911 or Crime Stoppers USVI, where your tip may net you a payday.
