ST. THOMAS — Police on this island are investigating an assault that occured in one of the rooms of the former Mitchell Motel, now abandoned, according to a press release VIPD Public Information Officer Sakeeda Freeman issued on Friday.

According to Ms. Freeman, on Thursday at about 6:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Hospital in response to a woman being treated for lacerations sustained during an assault that occurred in the former Mitchell Motel.

Arriving at the medical facility, officers met with the victim, who stated that an unknown male entered her room at the Mitchel Motel and began stabbing her with an unknown sharp object about her body. The victim was admitted for further treatment and this matter is currently pending investigation, according to Ms. Freeman.
