Potter Travels To Maryland Today

ST. CROIX — Lieutenant Governor Osbert Potter will leave the territory today to attend the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Fall 2015 National Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland, according to a press release Mr. Potter’s office issued on Tuesday.

The fall meeting will host insurance regulators from numerous states, the District of Columbia and the 5 U.S. territories. Mr. Potter serves as the territory’s commissioner of Banking and Insurance.

Through the NAIC, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer review, and coordinate their regulatory oversight, the release stated.

In accordance with the Revised Organic Act, Senate President Neville James will serve as acting lieutenant governor until Mr. Potter returns on November 23.
