Four Shot Between Monday Afternoon And Tuesday Morning On St. Croix

ST. CROIX — Four people were shot between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning here, with the first incident occurring at about 3:28 p.m. yesterday afternoon in Estate La Grange, while the other took place at about 1:00 a.m. this morning.

According to Police Commissioner Delroy Richards, Sr., at about 3:28 p.m. on Monday, the 911 emergency call center received a report from the Juan F. Luis Hospital of two gunshot victims who had walked into the facility for treatment. Police hurried to JFL and met with the individuals, who stated that they were near the bushes area east of the ballpark in Frederiksted, tending to some horses, when a vehicle drove up to them and an individual came out it.

The man began arguing with both of men who were tending the horses, according to Mr. Richards. And as the quarrel continued, the man who drove up in the vehicle fired a shot that struck one of the victims in the right forearm, prompting the victim to run into the bushes after realizing his injury.

Mr. Richards said the second victim claimed that the perpetrator then pointed a gun to his face and attempted to rob the victim’s gold chain. But as the victim attempted to shift the gun away from his face, the suspect shot him in the the palm of his left hand.

One of the individuals was kept for observation at the hospital, and the other was released, Mr. Richards said.

In the latter incident, a man and woman sustained gunshot wounds in Campo Rico, according to police sources. The condition of the victims remains unknown. And calls placed to VIPD Public Information Officer and Commissioner Richards concerning the latest incident were not returned as of writing.
