ST. THOMAS — A man was found dead in Honduras, Frenchtown here on Monday night at 9:51 p.m., after being shot multiple times about the body, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced this afternoon.

According to Ms. Freeman, citing a preliminary police report, upon police arrival to the scene, contact was made with an unresponsive Hispanic male, who was lying motionless on the ground located just east of Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body.

The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Jeffrey Velasquez of Honduras, St. Thomas.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning this homicide is asked to phone the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-923 extension 5617, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 extension 5556, the Office of the Chief of Police at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 800-222-8477.
