ST. THOMAS — A man was beaten badly on Friday night at roughly 8:30 p.m. while walking in the area of Nye Gade, also known as Garden Street, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Saturday.
Ms. Freeman said the 911 emergency call center dispatched police officers to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital in response to a report of a stabbing that occurred during a robbery.
Once at the hospital, officers made contact with the victim, who was being treated for lacerations to his back, left eye brow, and several scratches and bruises to his face, arms and body.
The victim stated that while walking in the area of Nye Gade, three masked black males rushed him from behind. He said that one of the individuals placed a black firearm to his head and pistol-whipped him while another male came up to him with a long, thin kitchen knife and stabbed him in the back.
The assault caused the victim to fall on the ground, where he was searched by a third assailant, who stole $460 from his wallet, as well as an AT&T mobile device. The victim stated that he was then kicked about his body, however he was able to get on his feet and run for his life.
