ST. THOMAS — A man named Kaleem Stephen was shot twice while standing near a wall in Tutu High Rise at about 8:25 a.m. today, but during questioning, the victim told police he was dumbfounded as to why anyone would want to shoot him, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced.
According to Ms. Freeman, police had hustled to the scene of the incident, but the victim had already been transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital.
Officers met with the victim at the medical facility, telling police that he was in the area of Tutu Hi Rise when suddenly he heard shots fired towards the wall that he was standing against. Mr. Stephens, 28, continued by stating that he felt pain to his leg and realized he was wounded. He was then transported to the hospital via private vehicle.
Mr. Stephens sustained two bullet wounds to his left leg and is still being treated for his injuries sustained during this incident, according to police. The V.I.P.D. was unable to provide information about the assailant.
