ST. THOMAS — AT&T has strengthened several cell sites here to improve service for customers, the company announced earlier this week. It stated that the upgrades would make it possible for the sites to handle more network traffic and thereby giving customers improved reliability and overall service performance.
“We want our customers to have a great network experience wherever they live, work or play,” said Ray Flores, AT&T regional vice president of AT&T Puerto Rico and USVI. “That’s why we continue to invest in our local networks.”
Areas benefiting from the upgrades include:
- Benner Hill
- Red Hook
- Haven Sight
- Paul M. Pearson Gardens
- Crown Mountain
Upon inquiry, the company said it did not have any updates on upgrades for St. Croix, although the Big Island has many locations where AT&T signal drops. “We’re continually enhancing our local networks. When I receive word from our USVI Network Team regarding any upgrades on St. Croix, I will certainly pass the information along to you,” said Kelly Layne Starling, AT&T’s senior PR manager for South Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
AT&T is the largest wireless phone service provider in the territory, followed by its competitor Sprint.
