ST. THOMAS — A man was shot outside his home at about 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving the victim with gunshot wounds in his left arm and right calf, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced this afternoon.

According to the release, officers from the Richard Callwood Command responded to conduct an inspection of the Estate Thomas area after several residents reported that several shots had been fired. While conducting the inspection, officers were notified by the 911 emergency call center that there was a gunshot victim at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital’s emergency room seeking medical attention.

Upon arrival to the hospital, contact was made with the victim, who stated that he had just parked his vehicle in front of his residence and proceeded to walk towards his home, when he suddenly heard shots being fired. The victim further explained that he began to feel a burning sensation to his left arm and was transported via private vehicle to the hospital. He was then treated for a gunshot wound to his left arm and right calf, according to the release.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of criminals to contact the Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 or 340 714-9801.  Residents can also contact 911, or Crime Stoppers, where tipsters get monetary rewards for successful leads.
