ST. THOMAS — A man who had sustained three gunshot wounds during a drive-by shooting incident on this island on Monday, succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday at about 3:25 a.m., V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman has announced.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old De’Jani Chitolie, was taken into surgery upon his arrival at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital Monday afternoon, according to Ms. Freeman. Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect involved in this homicide, to contact the V.I.P.D. at (340) 774-2211, or Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 714-9801. According to Police Commissioner Delroy Richards, speaking to this publication on Monday, Mr. Chitolie had driven his car into the parking area near Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy in Subbase, when a second vehicle drove up and fired multiple shots, striking Mr. Chitolie three times in the upper body. The suspect then fled the area.
