ST. THOMAS — An 18-year-old and 21-year-old were shot on Wednesday night at the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community here, sending the younger man into surgery, while the 21-year-old was still being treated.
That’s according to V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman, who issued a press release about the incident this morning.
Ms. Freeman said that about 10:11 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital in regards to two gunshot victims. While at the medical facility, contact was made with the 21-year-old, who was being treated for a gunshot wound to his upper right arm and left rib, as well as the 18-year-old, who was being treated for a gunshot wound to his right rib area, according to Ms. Freeman.
The men said while they were at the housing community at building #3 sitting near a garbage bin, they heard multiple gunshots being fired, and started running away. Ms. Freeman said the 18-year-old was undergoing surgery, while the 21-year-old was still being treated for his wounds.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B) and the Homicide Task Force are actively investigating all cases, according to the release. They are asking for the community’s support in bringing criminals to justice by making available information to the St. Thomas PD at (340)774-2211 or C.I.B. at (340)714-9807.
