ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Police Department on Monday reported a shooting incident here that left a car and apartment damaged.

According to V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman, the incident occurred  at the Oswald Harris Court housing  community in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Ms. Freeman said the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident at about 4:45 a.m., but an inspection by officers who were dispatched to the scene yielded negative results. Later in the day, however, officers were again dispatched to the same housing community and made contact with a man, who stated that his vehicle, parked near building 7, was damaged by gunshots.

Contact was also made with a female in the area of building 7, who stated that during the early morning hours she heard gunshots fired, however she did not look outside to see what was going on. After waking up later in the day, she observed a single gunshot hole in her western bedroom window louver.
