Man Shot In Chest And Arm On St. Croix

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / March 19, 2017

ST. CROIX — A man was shot in his chest and left arm on Friday night in Estate Strawberry, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced on Saturday.

According to Mr. Dratte, citing a police report, at about 10:35 p.m. on Friday, the 911 emergency call center received notification of gunshots being fired in Estate Strawberry, and shortly thereafter learned that a man had been injured by gunfire.

Police were immediately dispatched to the location, where they met the victim, who was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical attention.

The victim told police that while he was walking to his home, a male suspect with a black shirt covering his face, suddenly appeared and started shooting at him, striking him twice — once in the chest and once in the left arm. The victim further stated that he saw a blue SUV leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of those involved in criminal activity to contact Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 778-2211 on St Croix, (340) 774-2211 on St Thomas, or Crime Stoppers USVI, where you tip may lead to a substantial payout.
