ST. THOMAS — Police on Wednesday arrested a woman who allegedly struck in the face and shot after a female victim, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced. The victim, accompanied by her sister, visited the Callwood Command Zone A to report the incident, telling police that the suspect, Tara Babrow, above, had assaulted her.

The victim told police that after she was struck in the face, she and her sister returned to the alleged perpetrator’s house, only to be shot at multiple times.

Contact was then made with Ms. Babrow, 39, who was later placed under arrest and charged with reckless endangerment, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of ammunition, third-degree assault, discharging or aiming a firearm, failing to report a firearm, simple assault and disturbance of the peace, according to Mr. Dratte.

Unable to post bail (V.I.P.D. did not include an amount in its release), Ms. Babrow was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections.

The V.I.P.D. says it will continue to do all in its power to remove illegal firearms from the streets. The force is also asking anyone with information about criminal activity to call 340-774-2211 on St. Thomas, 340-778-2211 on St. Croix, or Crime Stoppers USVI, where your tip may lead to a payday.
