Man Shot Dead In Smith Bay, The Second Homicide In St. Thomas This Week

Breaking News / News / Top Stories / Virgin Islands / May 16, 2017

ST. THOMAS — A man was found dead in a truck in Smith Bay, with multiple gunshot wounds about his body, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced this afternoon. The homicide, which occurred after 1:00 p.m. today, was the second such incident this week — the first involved a man who was shot in Contant while on his way home.

According to Mr. Dratte, the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident via phone call at 1:13 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered what was described by police as a “lifeless” male individual in a truck. The victim was pronounced dead by emergency medical technicians on the scene, Mr. Dratte said.

He was identified by next of kin as Alldix Callwood, 35. Police say the investigation is in “very active” mode by the Major Crimes Unit.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators, to contact the force at 340-774-221, or the anonymous tips line, Crime Stoppers USVI, here.
