St. John Man Ventures Outside Home For Flashlight In Car. He Never Returned.

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / February 14, 2018

ST. JOHN — Police are seeking the community’s assistance in locating a 70-year-old St. John resident who strangely vanished on Monday night at about 8:00 p.m., V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte told The Consortium late Tuesday.

According to Mr. Dratte, the man, named Mark Moroney, had ventured outside his home and into his car to fetch a flashlight after a power outage. But he never came back, according to his wife, prompting an island-wide search that included the V.I.P.D. and National Park Service rangers, Mr. Dratte said.

Mr. Moroney is said to be 5 feet 9 inches tall, has silver white hair, and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and khaki slacks. Mr. Moroney also has a British accent, Mr. Dratte said.

Have you seen him? If you have, police are asking for your help in finding the missing man. Call the V.I.P.D. at 340-693-8880, 340-774-2211 or 911.
