The Board of Directors of the Agriculture and Food Fair of the Virgin Islands announced on Monday that applications for the 2018 Agricultural Fair (Agrifest) are now available at the Department of Agriculture offices on St. Croix and St. Thomas. Persons interested in participating may pick up applications during the weekday from 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the department said.
D.O.A. said a limited number of spaces are available this year in each area including exhibitors, crop exhibits, livestock exhibits, food and refreshments. This year’s event, first announced as canceled, is now being held during the Memorial Day weekend from May 26-28, according to the department.
“This year the fair will be scaled back due to infrastructure issues brought on by Hurricane Maria,” said D.O.A. Commissioner and Agrifest Board President Carlos Robles.
Residents and businesses who would like to volunteer their services or donate supplies to prepare the fairgrounds should call the volunteer coordinator at 340-690-8327, according to the release.
“We can use your help especially if you have electrical, carpentry, masonry or plumbing skills — but all help is welcomed,” Mr. Robles said.
