ST. CROIX — A man who was shot several times in the midsection of his body on Thursday night on St. Croix, is said to be in stable condition at the Juan F. Luis Hospital (J.F.L.), according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.
The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle at 9:21 p.m., Mr. Dratte said. Officers made their way to the medical facility the same night to conduct an interview with him. Upon their arrival, the victim stated he was at the Bienvenido Mini Mart in Christiansted, when someone tried to rob him and subsequently shot him and fled the area. He said someone then dropped him off to the hospital where he remains in stable but guarded condition, according to police. There were no suspects in custody as of Friday, Mr. Dratte said.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this incident to call 340-778-2211, or send in an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
