ST. CROIX — Chevelle Franklin, once known in Reggae and Dancehall music for hits such as Thank You and Dancehall Queen, has realigned her faith in Christendom and has been making waves in gospel music, fusing her Jamaican background with all genres for a blend and sound unique to Ms. Franklin.
The popular gospel artist will headline the Hurricane Irma and Maria anniversary thanksgiving service on Sunday at the St. Croix Educational Complex. The event, which will also feature Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights, commences at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.
“Hurricanes Irma and Maria may have devastated our islands last September, but not the resolve of our people to work together to build back stronger and smarter,” said Governor Kenneth Mapp. “In spite of our differences, we stand united as Virgin Islanders, thankful for one another and indebted to God for continuing to bless us.”
The thanksgiving service on St. John will be held at Franklin Powell Park in Cruz Bay on September 30, and will follow a similar program.
