The incoming Bryan administration on Friday released what it says is the authentic list of persons who make up its transition team in a number of categories. Gone from the list Mr. Bryan said was inaccurate, is former Governor John P. de Jongh. Instead, Mr. de Jongh’s son, John P. de Jongh III, called JP, is on the list as a member of the Economic Development team. JP is a young entrepreneur who owns a restaurant in St. Thomas named Sabroso.
Transition Team Press Secretary Richard Motta said on December 7 that the Bryan camp understood the public’s interest in such information, and that a complete list would have been furnished “shortly.” Today, Mr. Motta blamed the delay on the transition team’s preoccupation with upcoming inaugural events. He also said the Bryan camp wanted to notify all persons who are part of the transition team that their names would be furnished to the public before releasing the information to the media.
“This function of the transition, as with others, is a volunteer effort and we want the members of the assessment teams to focus on conducting their respective assessments and producing their respective reports,” Mr. Motta added.
The transition team has been interviewing the heads of a number of government departments and agencies, and feeding the information back to the Bryan camp as it continues to build its cabinet. Mr. Motta said the team was looking at two tentative dates for a second press conference: Dec. 31 or Jan. 1.
