ST. THOMAS — A man was arrested and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections in St. Thomas after an 11-year-old girl accused him of molesting her on several occasions over a period of time, according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.
Mr. Dratte told The Consortium that the V.I.P.D.’s Domestic Violence Unit was directed to travel to a residence (police usually don’t release location for such incidents in an effort to protect the victim) in reference to an unlawful sexual contact matter. Upon their arrival to the location, contact was made with an 11-year-old girl, who told police that she was sexually assaulted by James Simon, seen above, on several instances over a period of time.
On Tuesday, Mr. James was taken to the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau location and was placed under arrest for first-degree aggravated rape.
According to Mr. Dratte, the suspect waived his Constitutional rights and denied that he had raped the minor. He was then arrested with no option of bail, and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing, Mr. Dratte said.
