Viya is advising its customers territory-wide to expect a decrease in their internet speeds because of an issue with AT&T’s circuit service. The Viya release, issued late Wednesday, said an outage with AT&T’s network that connects the U.S. Virgin Islands to the mainland was disrupted, affecting Viya’s services to customers.
Viya did not say when exactly the outage occurred, but some Viya customers reported having service issues — including Internet blackout altogether and not just decreased speeds — over the weekend. It was not clear, however, whether those issues were part of the current problem caused by AT&T’s circuit disruption, or other issues affecting the company’s network. Viya also did not give a timeline as to when the issue might be fixed, information it could have possibly gathered from AT&T.
Viya apologized for any inconvenience the issue may have caused.
