Governor John P. deJongh Jr. congratulated the winners of Saturday’s Democratic Primary Election, and extended his appreciation to voters who braved tropical storm Bertha to cast their ballots.
In a release sent from Government House, the Governor also thanked those who participated in the race but were not successful, adding that the community was grateful for the ideas the candidates shared during the process in the quest to make these Virgin Islands a better place.
“The Democratic Party members have spoken and have selected those candidates they wish to represent the party in the November General Election. I congratulate those who won seats in the congressional delegate race, the gubernatorial race and the district senate races as well as positions on the leadership committees of this party,” Governor deJongh said.
“Additionally, I would also like to thank and extend my appreciation to the voters who plowed through the winds and rains of a threatening storm to cast their vote on Saturday. The voters came out despite the inclement weather conditions to exercise a right that we hold so dear.”
